Colors of Compassion

Eloise de Leon

Colors of Compassion, DVD, documents the historic first retreat for people of color led by Zen Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh at Deer Park Monastery in California.

The film features moments from Thich Nhat Hanh's Dharma talks and reflections from practitioners who offer insights about Buddhist practice in the face of discrimination, identity, social inequities and ancestral wounds. Colors of Compassion culminates in remarkable footage of the Five Mindfulness Trainings. The words to the beautiful Heart of Perfect Understanding, verse is subtitled so that the viewer may learn to chant along.

The DVD also features three special bonus features including an extended interview with Sister Dang Nghiem who is a Buddhist nun and author of; Healing: A Woman's Journey from Doctor to Nun, (Parallax Press, 2010).

We hope that everyone gets to see this film as a step towards understanding Buddhism and celebrating diversity.
