“This delightful book is a distillation of decades of experience on the part of Thich Nhat Hanh’s international Buddhist community concerning practical ways to nurture a foundation of mindfulness and heartfulness in children and those who care for them.“—Jon Kabat-Zinn and Myla Kabat-Zinn, co-authors of Everyday Blessings
Planting Seeds offers insight and a wide range of contemplative and fun activities that parents and educators can apply in school settings, in their local communities, or at home in a way that is meaningful and inviting to children. The activities are designed to help relieve stress, increase concentration, nourish gratitude and confidence, work with difficult emotions, touch our interconnection with nature, and improve communication.
Planting Seeds shares the practices and wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh and the entire Plum Village Community, collected and edited by Sister Jewel, with beautiful color illustrations by Wietske Vriezen. Includes a CD with 29 simple songs and meditations performed by members of the Plum Village Community, complete with lyrics for easy singing along.
Available at the following locations.
1) The Plum Village lifestyle has always embraced and included the participation of children. All activities are open for everyone, even the Dharma talks. Sometimes some mothers and fathers eventually end up having to carry their baby out of the meditation hall for crying a little too loud, but neither babies nor children are prohibited from being there in the first place. There is always space available for the children to sit together with the adults for a Dharma talk, for a formal meal, or even a sitting meditation—although children would often rather go out and play.
