At Parallax Press, we have long been guided by our community’s deep roots of Engaged Buddhism: turning toward suffering wherever it arises, and bearing witness with compassion, clarity, and care.
This is the path of interbeing—of staying present, staying human, and staying engaged. In response to the many forms of extreme violence in the world, we are renewing and deepening that commitment by coming together to practice Right Speech, deep looking, and compassionate action.
We have been in conversation as a workplace sangha, meeting weekly to reflect on actions we can take in this moment to reduce suffering in ourselves and in the world. Following the Tenth of The Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings,
“we are determined not to … transform our community into a political instrument” but to “take a clear stand against oppression and injustice.”
We vow to continue to look deeply so that we may be more skillful.
Love in Action, born from our shared practice, is an ongoing initiative that expresses mindfulness and Engaged Buddhism within our workplace and invites our wider community to engage with and alongside us. This landing page on our website is a place for sharing resources and actions. This is a work in progress and will continue to be updated.
