Socorro Maldonado

Socorro (Soco) Maldonado, True Refuge of the Hearth (pronouns she/her), identifies herself as Mexican-immigrant-bicultural-Brown woman. Since she was first in touch with Thầy’s teachings in 2012, the path of healing and transformation lead her to become a teacher for children. First, by combining her career as an architect and city planner, with volunteering time in a school for neurodiverse children, and after a few years, by committing full-time to sharing with them the practices of yoga and mindfulness. Currently, she teaches a group of first graders and hopes to grow alongside them for the next eight years. Soco enjoys every opportunity to learn something new. She is an advocate for social and environmental justice. She lives in Southern California, US, sharing the path with her husband. Both enjoy living a simple life with a close connection to the Earth and all beings.
